What building materials are trending these days: the traditional wood and stone etc, or the modern steel and composites?

Wood is very popular for doors both external and internal as well as for cabinetry and for flooring. Stone is popular in its usage for cladding, for floorings and for bathrooms. Steel and composites are often used for commercial buildings although for contemporary homes and architecture, metal is often used.

What technology are you using in your doors & windows?

The Vadehra Builders bespoke factory is located in New Delhi. Here you can see high precision German machinery and high calibre Swiss tools. The factory is headed by Peter Stierli who has come from Switzerland and has worked on impressive projects like the Dolder Grand Hotel and Zurich Airport. On offer is the highest quality doors and windows made with expert technical precision.

While Vadehra Builders is already a well-known name in the high-end woodworking business, our new focus will showcase technologies never before seen in this country. Peter Stierli brings with him 35 years of experience and holds the title of ‘Schreinermeister’, which takes 11 years to earn and is a recognition of being a master in the craft. He believes that doors and windows are technically the most advanced of any woodworking project.

The doors and windows made at this factory are made from the highest quality, certified, sustainable, imported wood. Currently, oak is hugely popular, although, pine and Accoya treated wood amongst others is also used. The advanced technology allows for lift and slide and tilt and turn window options which means that a window can smoothly transition from being fully open to just a tilt for fresh air at the top. Triple glass is used to enhance thermal insulation and lower energy costs.

The product can also be made with metal outside and wood on the inside, the possibilities are endless in terms of aesthetics and function. All hardware is from Europe and comply with the highest of European standards. This is the hottest trend for super luxury homes, be it a new home or renovating an old one. Currently, no other company in India can offer these services to their clients.

What are architects and interior designers demanding with respect to fit outs?

There is a need to adhere to world-class standards as travel, ease of doing business abroad and in India and the availability of various brands have made it possible for the client to source from any fair or any store in the world. Many architects and interior designers are using this opportunity to create a truly world standard home - hardware from New York, bathroom fixtures from Paris, stone from Italy, local materials from Rajasthan, wood from New Zealand - all of this is possible today - and is being played as such.
